It's Santa: OWH Sketch #235

Happy Tuesday everyone.  Another great sketch over at Operation Write Home, a very quick, easy and versatile sketch, courtesy of Danni at Danni's Dream.  I've decided to make Christmas cards with at least every other sketch,  hoping to have a fair showing with my next box to Sandy.  Sandy is encouraging us all to have our Christmas cards to her by October 10th deadline, she's promising "extra bonus points"  LOL!  Here's a quick link to the deadlines, hoping everyone will get the nudge to be early!.  Psst… spread the word.  Well, here's to a great week ahead, as for me I'm Gone Scrappin!

Hero Mail: Midweek Color Challenge

Happy hump day everyone!  It's that time again, another great midweek challenge from Operation Write Home.  This month, we're making Hero cards and today, we're to use red/white or kraft/blue.

I'm a relatively new card maker, only two years in earnest.  Well… when I started, I collected tons of ribbon, only to find I didn't really like working with ribbon!  So… I been trying out ideas to use up a portion of my huge stash!  I love the simplicity of this design, and it's great for a Hero card.  Well, off to make more cards and use up some ribbon!  Thanks for stopping by.

I don't know about you, but I have lots of patriotic ribbon!

As you can see, I bought lots of ribbon, in just about every color way!

OWH Sketch Challenges: #233 & 234

Hi all, wow, where does the time fly?  The dh and I have been doing a little state vacationing, so I've gotten just a bit behind on challenges.  I need to catch up on chickens and the garden too, but… cards first!  Priorities, right?  :-)

Here's #234.  I took a little creative license, as I didn't want the sentiment to cover up those wonderful anchors.

Now to #233, I just love those little cute guys!

Thankful: Operation Write Home Sketch #232

Happy Monday everyone, I hope you had a memorable 4th of July.  It's Monday, never too late to participate in this week's sketch over at Operation Write Home.  The dh and I went camping in the high country of Western Colorado.  We capped our weekend with a 7 mile hike to 11,000 feet elevation absolutely gorgeous mountain lake!  As I sat by the lake, I pondered on how truly grateful we are to live in such a beautiful country, protected by those who serve.  A big thank you to our heroes.

Today's posting on OWH reminded us of the card theme deadlines, which if you're like me, seem to loom so quickly.  So… being in the thankful mindset, I decided to make a Thankful card.  I also think it passes for OWH Virtual Card Making Party Texture Challenge.  Hope you enjoy.

Hero: Operation Write Home Sketch #231

Another Sunday, another great sketch! The original inspiration can be seen here, a fabulous card by Angie! It's been really hot here in Western Colorado, but even hotter where our deployed heroes are.  The 4th of July is coming on us quickly, I want to send out a big thank you to our heroes and all they do for us!

Country Boy: OWH Sketch #230

Happy Sunday everyone.  Just a quick post, as I spent the morning tending to the chickens and veggie garden, I still have laundry to do! Truth be told, I totally goofed off Saturday at Country Jam, an all day country music festival here in Western Colorado!  Today's sketch over at Operation Write Home's Stars and Stamps features a great card from Diane.  Since I'm a country girl at heart, I decided to make a card in honor of all of our country heroes!  Well … back to the laundry!

I've been needing to make some love cards to balance out my next box to OWH, I seem to always not have enough love cards.  So, I decided to make a second card.  (Avoiding the laundry!)  I love MME Love themed pads, they all go so well together.

OWH Midweek Throwdown Color Challenge

Happy hump day everyone!  It's been a while since I've had time to even think at lending my hand to a midweek challenge, but here I am!  This week's challenge over at Operation Write Home is a color challenge, asking us to think summer and use teal and cantaloupe.  Well, I only have one piece of paper that even fit the challenge.  It's one of those multi-stack card stocks that have a pre-punch border at the bottom, one with a different bottom color than the top.  Well, I've had this pack for while, having trouble deciding what to do with it.  Since I'm limited, here goes!

The teal solid seemed to match the print much better in my craft room, oh well…. :-)  I'm wondering if I should take a snap shot of all the papers before I start, just to see if the camera says I match!  LOL!
