Tutorial Tuesday and MWT Stripes

Vacation Card Making Withdrawls!  Seven days off, three days back and three challenges!  I really was inspired by the Tuesday Tutorial using bubble wrap and ink to stamp your own backgrounds.  I'm also a quilter, and this was a cool technique I learned many moons ago.  So fun to get out my old tools.  I also combined the tutorial with this week's Midweek Throwdown Challenge using striped paper.

I used a piece of sturdy garden netting as my "stamp", inking up the entire surface. I chose a medium valued card stock and a slightly darker value of ink.   I then placed the cardstock down over the inked netting, rubbing gently to transfer the pattern.  It's subtile, but adds that tone on tone dimension (just like quilting).

Operation Write Home Sketch Challenge #165

Hello everyone, just a couple days shy of sketch day.  The family was away, attending my nephew's wedding at Callaway Gardens in Pine Mountain, GA.  Rainy, cold weekend, but lovely just the same.  Now back to this week's sketch, a very versatile one, especially if you love rectangular sentiments like I do! Best wishes for a great week, hopefully the sun will come out and dry everything up.

Operation Write Home #164 Sketch Challenge

The old adage in like a lion is definitely the mantra for this blustery Sunday morning.  Although we're getting a bit warmer, it's really windy today.  Ahh, another day to stay inside and make cards!  Today's sketch by Pam is so versatile.  I just love her different takes, so much, I CASEd one of her cards.  Thanks Pam!

Operation Write Home Sketch #163

Happy day light savings everyone.  My husband teases me that it's a holiday, because I celebrate the days getting longer.  Next best thing to Christmas!
At any rate, I continue on my mission, making greeting cards for our military heroes to send home to their loved ones.  This week's Operation Write Home Sketch gave me an opportunity to dig into a new paper pack.  I'm trying to make more masculine cards, especially since spring has me leaning to the light and airy side.  Best wishes to all for a great week and a little more sunshine!

OWH Sketch #162

The snow has finally melted and I finally was able to get my outside Christmas lights down today.  I was afraid it wouldn't be until summer at the rate we were going!  This week's sketch over at Operation Write Home hinted at being perfect for Mother's Day cards.  I agree.  Hope you enjoy my take on the sketch, wishing all a great week ahead!

OWH Mid-Week Challenge

This week's throwdown is a recipe.  Oh, I love recipe's, spicing things up even more.  One of my favorite sketches is OWH #142, the focal point is perfect for the use of twine.
